The purpose of this website is to give you a first-hand look at our experience with Old Town Air Cooled and its owner/operator, Krystopher Scott. (Update 2/15/2024 - Krystopher Scott was evicted from his previous "shop" at 1405 Princess Anne Street. Scott now has a shop located at 121 Thompson Avenue, Fredericksburg, VA, where he operates without a valid business license and continues to scam people!

We have put together a detailed, reverse-chronological timeline to showcase our experience. As you will see, Krystopher Scott of Old Town Air Cooled, had our 1966 Volkswagen Bug in his possession for 15 months. As you progress through the timeline, you will see a factual, objective depiction of how Krystopher Scott conducts and runs his business. 

We entrusted our Herbie The Love Bug Replica to him, in hopes of having it restored to its rightful condition. This had been a dream of ours for the past 14 years, and it was FINALLY going to come true. Herbie has been considered a member of our family and has provided countless smiles to thousands of people all over the country.  The restoration was the least he deserved. Over a period of 428 days, Krystopher Scott revealed his true colors by ghosting us for extended periods of time, hanging up on us during "status update" phone calls, emotional outbursts that lead to crying on his part, accusing us of harassment, guaranteeing countless unfulfilled commitments, and much, MUCH more. 

One might rightfully ask why we allowed this to continue for 428 days. The answer: we had already paid thousands of dollars to Krystopher, and were left in the vulnerable position of him having complete control over our valued family member. 

Ultimately, we had to finally accept the fact that what was promised would never be provided, and made the very difficult decision to simply go get the car out of his possession. Sadly, what should have been a day of joy was instead a recovery mission.  

After 428 days and approximately $10,000, we received a partially repaired car of poor quality and missing pieces.  You can find full details and pictures of the final product to judge for yourself here. 

Let this serve as a warning for anyone considering bringing their beloved VW to Krystopher Scott and Old Town Air Cooled.
